FAQ:
Who are you? We're Christians who want to express thanks to God for the blessings He has given us. Specifically, we're the youth, volunteer adults, and some staff members of Moody Memorial First United Methodist Church, in Galveston, Texas.
Why are you doing this? We hope that it will remind you of the things you're thankful for, and maybe you'll thank God, too.
I posted a picture, and it's not up yet. Why? This is a project run completely by volunteers. It takes a while to go through all the submissions, and get them posted. The process can take from a day to a week, depending on how much help is on hand. If it's been longer than two weeks since you posted, please try posting again. If you still don't see your photo after a reasonable amount of time, we invite you to e-mail us about it.
Are you making money from this? No. The bandwidth is donated by a church member, and all labor is volunteer. However, if you'd like to donate to cover some of our costs, you can do so by contacting the church through its main website: www.moody.org. Should we receive any financial support from you, we'll apply it directly to the maintenance of this site. If there's a surplus, it'll go to the Society of St. Stephens, a nondenominational aid group in Galveston, to help make sure people who don't have much get more to be thankful for.
Is this a political statement? No. Admittedly, we got the idea from a site that is quite political in nature. But this is not a response, or a rebuttal, or a political statement of any kind. It's just a really good way to share our thanks with a lot of people.
Does it cost anything to post? No.
Who can post a picture? Anyone who has anything or anyone to be thankful for. As long as the content of your picture is appropriate, you can post it.
Can I post more than one picture? Yes. Please do.
What kinds of pictures are appropriate? Pictures of you, or people or things or situations you're thankful for, with some sort of expression of thanks within the image -- either words you've added with photo-editing software, or by taking a picture with a sign of some sort that expresses your thanks. Take a look at what others have done to help you with ideas.
What kinds of pictures will be rejected? This is a site sponsored by the youth of a United Methodist Church. So, if it's not appropriate in church, it's not appropriate here. That should cover some obvious bases. Also, be aware that we cannot post copyrighted material. Please make sure business logos, brand logos or designs on T-shirts, or images of celebrities and/or politicians (living or dead) are not included. They won't be posted. Remember, we're here to express thanks -- not make political or sociological statements, not to defame, debase, or insult anyone. Decisions on the appropriateness of any pictures submitted rest with the staff of DearGod-ThankYou.org, and are final.
How do I post a picture? Just attach the JPG, PNG, or GIF file you'd like to be considered to an email, and send it to: submit@DearGod-ThankYou.org Please, if possible, compress the file as a .zip. Also, please include a way we can contact you, and a return email address.
What size should my picture be? No larger than 800 x 600 pixels. No smaller than 600 x 400 pixels.
What format should it be in? JPG, PNG, or GIF
How long will this site be up? As long as enough people are still interested in expressing thanks to God this way. | |
